1132 Studies in Comparative Education

The field of Comparative Education is built on the foundation that comparisons of education policies and practices across nations can help think critically about our system and other systems. This course not only explores higher education goals, policies and practices, but focuses on higher education investment around the globe through a comparative lens. There are two levels of higher education investment—individual and national. Related topics of individual higher education investment include college enrollment, choice, persistence, and graduation, as well as return to higher education investment. In addition, national higher education investment will be discussed, and topics include financing higher education (investment in academic research as well as teaching and learning) and the external social benefits generated from higher education.
