This course provides students a holistic understanding and basic concepts (such as differentiation rules and natural geographical divisions) of physical geography by analyzing/illustrating the character/principle of its individual subsystems (lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, geomorphology and pedology) and mutual interactions among them. It also includes some preliminary introduction and investigation of geographical environment and natural resource problems (such as climatic warming) that human society currently most concerns in order to build up the foundations for subsequent advanced research.

1131全球定位系統(The Global Positioning System)
本課程目標是介紹全球導航衛星系統原理,修習本課程可瞭解全球導航衛星系統的定位原理和主要誤差來源,課程強調理論與實務並重,以實機操作的方式學習如何進行野外定位測量與資料收集,測量儀器的使用包括高精度(公分級)和休閒級(公尺級)定位儀,並與UAV、Google地球和地理資訊系統結合應用。
113(1)測量學(Surveying)
本課程目標在建立學生對於測量學之整體概念,讓學生瞭解如何從周遭空間中萃取各項「資料」,經過科學方法整理為實用的空間「資訊」,並以二維或三維的方式呈現其成果,對其進行多維度時空分析。本課程除了作為大學基礎教育外,也可提供學生參加公職考試之準備,助其投身測量製圖職系之政府部門服務。

1131計量地理(Quantitative Geography)
本課程以培養學生能活用基礎統計方法來解決地理問題為目標,內容涵蓋敘述統計、推論統計、相關與迴歸。課程以實際地理問題個案為腳本,解釋如何應用適當的統計方法來解決問題,並使用Excel軟體實際操作練習。
