1131 Special Topics on Research Methods in Geography(地理學研究法專題討論)
This course is mainly divided into three parts: How to design research questions? How to choose a suitable research method? How to write a research plan? The theory and practice are equally emphasized. The research methods of different domains including physical geography, human geography and geoinformatics will be introduced. The main teaching method is cooperative learning. The final assignment is writing a research proposal.
◎This is a cross-level course and is available for junior and senior undergraduate students, master's students.
(Studies in Biogeography and Natural Conservation)
Students who have taken undergraduate courses in biogeography and/or conservation biology are familiar with the foundational theories and landmark cases. However, they may not always grasp the broader context in which these ideas exist. This course is designed to encourage students to delve deeply into research papers, seeking comprehensive knowledge in biogeography and biological conservation.
Through weekly journal club-style discussions led by the instructor, guest speakers, or peers, students will enhance their specialized knowledge in biogeography. These sessions will also help students develop the critical skills needed to read and analyze research papers, including classic studies.
This year's course will be notably different from previous years. To further engage participants and maximize the value of their time and effort, we will not only focus on discussing papers but also collaborate on writing a review paper on selected biogeography or conservation issues, with the goal of publishing our work. The keywords for this year is ‘invasive speciesʼ.
Prior knowledge in biogeography, ecology, and/or evolutionary biology is highly recommended but not required for taking this course.
Please note this is an EMI course. All participants are anticipated to actively express their thoughts with spoken and written English.
(Studies in Cartography)
(Multivariate Analysis)
